In the space provided below, provide additional information. For example,
"My grandfather told me his mother was Cherokee", or "Our
old family bible says...".
Please include any supportive information you may have. Here are some
examples that may help. Did your ancestor live in known Cherokee regions
such as Tennessee, North Carolina, Oklahoma, or Georgia? Is the ancestor
listed on any American Indian rolls? Did your ancestors move from the
East to Oklahoma around 1838? Are there any documents such as a census
that list this person as Cherokee, Native American, American Indian, or
Freedmen? Did the family pass down an oral history of their heritage that
includes Cherokee members?
Include
as much information as possible regarding names, birth and death dates,
locations, marriages, baptism, military service, etc. of ancestors in
the Cherokee line of your family tree. Do NOT include personal information
about living persons.
Please
don't hesitate to complete the form because of a lack of information.
We are here to help you. Simply provide whatever you can.
